Eco

At Lammack Primary School, we aim to educate all pupils in becoming responsible and caring citizens, respecting each other, their local community, and the wider world. All pupils are encouraged to become mature and independent in recycling their waste and develop an understanding of why this is done. Through individual liberty, we teach children to take responsibility for their choices, from saving energy to looking after school equipment and understanding the consequences of the choices they have made. Children leave Lammack aware of the condition of their planet, with the confidence to speak up and act, knowing their actions can have an impact on themselves, others and the future of the Earth.

At Lammack, we use democracy to vote for new Eco Warriors each academic year. These Eco Warriors undertake important jobs such as recycling all the school's used pens, planting and maintaining trees and plants and recycling batteries. Through their efforts, they help to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility within the school, setting an example for their peers and inspiring others to take care of their environment.

We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award, recognising our commitment to making our school a greener and more sustainable place. This achievement reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff and the wider school community in taking meaningful action to protect our environment.

As part of our eco-friendly approach, we follow the top ten topics from Eco-Schools, which guide our initiatives and projects. These topics include biodiversity, energy, global citizenship, healthy living, litter, marine, school grounds, transport, waste and water. By focusing on these key areas, we ensure that our students develop a deep understanding of environmental issues and take active steps to improve sustainability both within the school and beyond.

At Lammack, we are committed to creating a school environment that fosters a love for nature, sustainability and positive change. We believe that by empowering our pupils with the knowledge and skills to care for the planet, we are shaping responsible citizens of the future.
